This engraving was made from a drawing by Gainsborough Dupont, the famous artist’s nephew and pupil. It dates from the last quarter of the 18th century and it shows a lime kiln, possibly alongside the "Allen cut" which served the brick making, lime burning and malting complex owned by the Allen family.
