The Chestnuts was a substantial Victorian house standing just outside the town boundary on the corner of Cats Lane and Cornard Road. It was the home of the Walters family (Stephen Walters Silk Company) for many years. In the late 20th century it served as home to a SCC residential school but it has since been demolished.
