The Floodgates are just along the path from the Croft towards the Mill. This postcard, posted in Sudbury on August 6th 1906, shows a group of people standing on the path above the Floodgates. Beyond you can see the small cottage where the keeper lived. He was employed by Clover’s Mill to regulate the flow of water coming down the cut towards the mill, lowering or raising the gates as necessary.See also pa762.
