Clacton to Cambridge summer diversions August 1957.Thanks to Alison Hall.

Comment from David Underwod: “There were a couple of these trains in the timetable in the late ‘50s. They ran to/from Clacton via Bury & Sudbury on Saturdays during the Summer months. One ran to/from Leicester and the other to/from Sheffield. They didn’t stop at any of the branch stations except for Long Melford (en route to the Midlands, but not from) to enable to locomotive/engine hauling the train to take on water from the water column at the end of the platform there. After the line from Long Melford to Bury closed in April 1961, these trains were routed via Cambridge”.
