Gallery: Sudbury's Covid Year

Catalogue ref: pa1298

Covid restrictions had a disastrous effect on the Royal British Legion Poppy appeal launched in late October. Then Legion member Keith Bunn was able to collect on the Market Hill but lockdown for a month from November 5th resulted in only a small fraction of the totals collected in earlier years. With the usual Remembrance Sunday parade and services cancelled, Sudbury community warden team honoured our 300 war dead by painting a stylised poppy for each one on pavements around St Peter’s Church.
