This pole in Church Street was hit by a lorry – disrupting both local electricity and telephone services. ‘Bert and Ernie’ are identified on the back of the photo as two of the men. They are in front of the old cottages which stood on what is now a shrubbery and the entrance to St Gregory’s school. 1950s?
