Cornard Road

This grainy early photograph seems to have been taken from the steep footpath which climbs up from the Cornard Road (opposite Doe’s) to the Newton Road and the cemetery. The large house with a gabled facade is No 46 Cornard Road. The foreground shows the lime pits in what is now Lucas Drive and the track running across the corner of the photo might be a the railway line which served the lime works and connected via a tunnel with the local branch line.
