The old Ship and Star public house just after its final closure in 2002. It is set into the wall of the Dominican Priory and may have orginated as a hostel for visitors to the Priory and pilgrims en route to the shrine at Bury St Edmunds. Later it was popular with watermen working on the nearby Stour Navigation and in the late 20thC was a popular meeting point for the town’s youth. Now converted into a number of self-contained residential properties.
