Left to right: Stan Fenton, Walter Scott and Victor Sayers examining newly woven silk at the Gainsborough Silk Company in 1937. Victor Sayers was Managing Director at the time and the silk fabric was for the Palace of Westminster. This length was in green and gold but it was subsequently supplied in red and gold. The retail price today would be about £200 a metre.
