The church was closed for redecoration in 1964. This shows the formal rededication ceremony on April 11 1964 conducted by the Bishop of Dunwich (front, centre). Young boy at front – Vernon ‘Nipper’ Brown. Behind him Michael Harding-Payne. Lawrence or was it Alan?)Mcquhae on the far right (one of the family that took over the Grimwood firm in the 1930s(?). Behind him is Ron Stacey, painter and decorator. Third from left with heavy spectacles and moustache, Harry Claydon, carpenter and wood carver. In the from row, far left, with staff Mr Seeley (or Smith? Also in picture Rev Richard Norburn ( back row, extreme right)) and Canon H Douglas Barton Rector of Ss Gregory and Peter ( front row on left). Frank Turner at back behind the Bishop (Headmaster of North Street School). Also in picture: Rev Hugh Wake, George Payne and Les Gross.
