The Rose and Crown hotel seen from King Street in the years immediately before the fire which destroyed it on New Years Day 1922. Mr Winch's shop on the left was also destroyed; Arthur Raven owned the shop on the right which was saved from the fire- he wanted to retire so Winch purchased his shop and moved his business there.
