The Black Boy on Market Hill decorated for the town’s celebrations on March 10th 1863 of the marriage of Albert Prince of Wales and future Edward VII to the Danish Princess Alexandra. ‘Mr Weston’s hotel was outlined with evergreen, and a monster inscription "Welcome Alexandra to our peaceful isle, and may the Prince and Princess be Happy.’ The reporter from the Suffolk and Essex Free Press also noted the word ‘Welcome’ over the door and the flags and chinese lanterns.
