Thomas Stammers ran a hardware business from 27 North Street (one of the ancient Cavendish Cottages) He also had this mobile shop to tour surrounding villages. This must be taken just before the start of WWI – in 1916, aged 26, he was killed in action on the Somme. He has no known grave.
