Sudbury staged a spectacular Pageant in 1911 to celebrate the Coronation of George V. Most of the surviving photos of the pageant show it being staged on Freemen’s Great Common. This ‘pastoral play’ was part of the Pageant but it was held on the cricket ground: the participants were clearly enjoying themselves!
