In late May and early June people gathered to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. Local businesses decked their shop windows, burning appeared in various places, there were street parties took and the beacon was lit on the Croft. The festivities began on the 18th of May with a Torch Relay in which 9 nominated Sudbury Heroes joined Mayor Ellen Murphy in a short lap around the town centre, carried in cycle rickshaws.Crowds gathered on the evening of June 2nd to witness the lighting of the beacon.
