Kentish Lodge was the home of George Philip Whorlow (1868-1908) who ran a coal, lime and removals business in the town. He built the house after he moved from Whitstable and it became his family home after his marriage to Beatrix Mary Joy in 1899 (see pa730). This evocative scene shows a tennis party on the court behind the house with St Gregory’s church in the distance.
