Sudbury Girls High School

Subject: Education

Gallery: Up to 1970

Catalogue ref: pa1278

The Sudbury High School  for Girls started its life in 1921 in Stour Street  – in the ancient premises of Hardwicke House. It moved to these spacious modern buildings at the top of Tudor Road in 1936. The switch to comprehensive education in the early 1970s ended grammar school education and led to a change of use as Tudor Road Middle School. The much later switch to a two tier system rendered Middle Schools obsolete and the buildings were demolished. Image dates from about 1937. See also images pa1279 and 1280
