George Pickering came to Sudbury  in 1923 to manage the new Midland Bank building at 44-46 Market Hill (now the HSBC). He and his wife Molly lived in a substantial villa above the  Melford Road, Number 12, and their girls went to Sudbury High School for Girls. George also became the Commandant of the local Red Cross based at Belle Vue. See also images pa1277-1280.
