Outside Sudbury station c1946. The train driver has stopped to pick up the leather pouch from the signalman. In the pouch was the token which the driver had to have in his possession before entering onto the single track section of the line between Sudbury and Bures. This was one of a number of measures designed to prevent head-on collisions.
