Wood Hall, destroyed when a USAAF B19 bomber failed to gain height when taking off from Chilton Airfield on 15th October 1944. All the crew were killed, except the pilot; also the farmer’s son, 15-year old Raymond, who was asleep at the top of the house. He died from burns a week later.
